Checklist for Using Projection Equipment



The Screen

Above heads of the audience

In full view of all members of the audience

Correct size for the audience

Use electric pointer, if available
Keystoning

Ensure that the equipment is at a projection level that will not create keystoning. Adjust the level of the projector, or tilt the bottom of the screen back toward the wall.

Electric Current

Matches projector specifications

Converter available if necessary

Extension cord available

The Overhead Projector

Height convenient for use

Lens of proper focal length and free of dust

On a steady, vibration-free base

Ensure that extra bulbs are available

Electric cord arranged to avoid tripping
The Picture

In focus, high enough, centered on screen

Not blocked by you as a speaker, by projectionist or projector

Room darkened appropriately for type of projected equipment used
The Projectionist (if not yourself)

Prepared to handle house lights

Rehearsed with your cues
Slides

Slides accounted for, in correct sequence and in position

Free of dirt and fingerprints

In good condition to avoid "jamming" projector

First slide in place and focused
Overhead Projector Presentations

Clean from any previous use

Ensure that material is in correct sequence

Use margins for your notes (if using cardboard cell frames)

Ensure that there is enough table space provided for materials

Ensure that marking pens are available
Film Presentations

Ensure film is clean and without breaks

Thread film properly and move to correct starting point

Audio speaker, if separate, is plugged in and located beneath screen

Sound level is tested
